Last Thursday, the UW-Richland Student Senate hosted an outdoor movie night with an attendance of about thirty people. The outdoor movie night has been attempted before, but due to the weather, it was forced to move inside.
"I think it went really well," said Student Senate President, Stephanie McCarthy. "We've been waiting to do an outdoor movie since our fall movie nights were rained out."
The movie shown was "The Dark Knight", a
sequel to the Batman movie series. Due to its length and the cold, many movie goers left towards the end to warm up.
"It was cold as hell," said Sophomore Jocelyn Turner.
The original plan of the Student Senate was to have a bonfire and s'mores tied in with the night, but due to complications, that plan didn't carry through.
"I was looking forward to the s'mores, but they didn't have them," said Turner. "I enjoyed it though."
Despite the cold, many others went to the movie night to take a break from the stress of the ending semester.
"It was alright," said Freshmen Mike Dalberg. "It was nice to be able to chill and relax and not worry about homework."
Others took advantage of the movie to do some last minute bonding before the school year ends.
"It was a wonderful event. Batman is a sexy man," said sophomore Ariam Kesete. "We all got to cuddle; my feet were in Indaca's face."
Overall, it appears the first outdoor movie was a successful attempt for Student Senate.
"It was exciting," said freshmen Devin Hoeper.
