Motoya Higashi, a University of Wisconsin-Richland Sophomore from Japan, has been named "integrator of the year" for his top-placing score in solving integration problems.

"I'm really happy at this point in time and thank my professor Amanuel," said Higashi. "However, since I couldn't get all questions right, and there are always people above me, I am going to keep making efforts."

The competition Higashi won was organized by math faculty and open to calculus students on all 13 of the UW-Colleges campuses.

It involved solving a number of integration problems.

Higashi is a student in Calculus II, taught by Dr. Amanuel Teweldemedhin.
