It was Aug. 3, 2008, the third day of Lollapalooza. The average temperature in Chicago throughout the day was 85° F, and what little wind there was had been rendered negligible by the throngs of sweaty Chicagoans thermodynamically sucking up all the cool. My friend Zach and I had been there for all three days and the festival had become more of an endurance test than entertainment.

Taking Back Sunday has never been a band that has been particularly well known for talented musicianship and lyrics, a pleasant sonic sound, or knowing when less is more. They are more known for internal strife, as the band has had as many lineup changes as they have albums, a dual-vocalist approach and an overly devoted fan base.
