Ripon football reloads for another season

With the annual Red/White scrimmage wrapping up this past weekend, it is officially football season. Entering his 20th season as head coach, Ron Ernst has several key positions to fill.

One key position is quarterback. Senior and three year starter Matt Miller will not be able to play this season, due to a torn ACL he suffered over the summer.

Neither the rain or the Valparaiso defense was able to slow down Western Illinois' offensive attack.

The Western Illinois football team got its first win since winning last season's opener with a 45-0 victory over Valparaiso.

"Our players worked for a long time to ensure that we'd be 1-0 with a victory at Hanson Field," said head Mark Hendrickson.

Without any of the players from USA's gold medal run at the Beijing Olympics, this 2010 World Championship squad could be called the USA's junior varsity team.

Men's Basketball will travel to Cancun

Western Illinois men's basketball, in partnership with Triple Crown Sports, has been selected to play in the 2010 Cancun Challenge. The four-game tournament will take place from Nov. 18-24.??Head coach Jim Molinari and the Fighting Leathernecks travel to Missouri on November 18, then play at Wyoming on Nov.
